Subject: CHA Standard Clinic
Equestrian Training Opportunity at Camp Y-Noah
Become a certified riding instructor at the CHA Standard Clinic this Spring.
The clinic is conducted by two Professional Clinic Instructors is taught
over five days (40 hours). The Standard Instructor Certification offers
certification for both English and Western instructors at four horsemanship
levels, and also addresses short trail rides. Participants will be
evaluated based on safety, riding ability, written knowledge and teaching
techniques in a group riding situation. Cost of the clinic includes room
and board for the five days, use of the facility's mounts and equipment. A
membership in CHA and the following books are included, as well: Riding
Instructor Manual and Standards for Group Riding.
Located in a beautiful 250 acre setting with Indoor Riding Arena, modern
facilities, and great food. Only minutes from Akron or Canton, Camp Y-Noah
is a perfect wilderness retreat with the convenience of restaurants, movies,
and many shops within a fifteen minute drive.

Subject: Canoe Training
Buckeye Trails is happy to announce that we will be collaborating with
ACA (Canoeing ACA) and there will be a whole weekend of canoe instructor
training certification course on June 11-13, 2004....it will be held on
the Little Miami River - right around the corner from Camp
Whip-Poor-Will, Morrow OH (you know - close to Cincinnati)
I will offer WPW for housing - am not sure about any food issues yet -
will let you know -
As of now - just wanted to get that info to you - start planning if you
need the certification - IF you are interested - please let me know
right away so I know how many to plan for.
As soon as I have the full details - I will let you know everything.

Equestrian Training Opportunity
A CHA Combined Clinic is a process in which the participant becomes a certified
riding instructor. The clinic is 40 hours in length and is conducted by two
Professional Clinic Instructors. Participants are evaluated based on their safety,
riding ability, written knowledge and teaching techniques in a group riding

facilitiesŐ mounts and equipment, a complementary membership in CHA and the

level 2 Western/English and Pack and Trail).

Stuart - Calvary Camp will once again be sponsoring an Aquatic School in
conjunction with the Red Cross Chapter of Ashtabula County. Could you pass
the following information along to the ACA Ohio membership?
We will offer Red Cross certifications for Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor,
and Water Safety Instructor(new material). We will also offer a Lifeguard
Challenge on Sunday May 23rd.
The courses will be offered May 20th-23rd. Room and Board provided.
We have indoor swimming facilities available in case of inclement weather!
A registration packet will be out to ACA members soon. If you do not receive
a packet or would like more information please contact Tim Green, Director -

Subject: June Training week at YMCA Camp Kern

YMCA Camp Kern is hosting a week of training during June 1-5. We do have
bed space and meals available for multiple day trainings. All day
trainings have a meal option. See list below and sign up soon. Some
sessions do have limited space, so it is first come first serve.
Low and High Challenge Course Instructor Training
June 3-5 fee is $270 (early), $315 (late), room and board is $45
ERi invites the area camps to participate in the Low and High Challenge
basic facilitators training at YMCA Camp Kern. It is being held in
conjunction with the ACA Ohio Sectional Training. YMCA Camp Kern has two
extensive static high courses: one in poles and the other in white pines,
the only Double X Tango Tower and a low challenge course. Training will
include course set up, history, technical skills, facilitation and
processing. Participants will receive manual and certificate of
completion. Low Challenge June 1-2, fee $180 (early=before May 1), $225
(late=after May 1), room and board is $30. Any questions, call Trow at

American Canoe Association Canoe Classes
June 3, 9am-4pm, $30
This course is designed as a short program emphasizing the entry level
paddling skills for individuals desiring an introduction to the sport of
canoeing. This is a flat water course. Safety and rescues will be
emphasized. For more info call Dave Moran at 513-932-3756 x27.
Basic River Canoe
June 5, 8am-5pm, $35
This course provides an introduction to moving water up to Class 1 (easy,
fast moving water with riffles and small waves). The goal of the course
is to help prepare the paddler to safely and comfortably tandem paddle in
water that is moving, but does not have rapids. Safety and rescues will
be emphasized.
Note: for those needing to satisfy ACA standard PA-20, A (for watercraft
supervisor qualifications) these courses along with a current Lifeguarding
certification will satisfy your certification needs. For more info call

Horsemanship Safety Association Clinic
June 2-5, $495 per person (includes room and board)
gives valuable information about: safety, teaching techniques, risk
management, horsemanship skills and more. By practicing and participating
in mounted and unmounted lessons, participants will learn how to become a
better instructor, trail guide and horse person. Attending a H.S.A.
clinic will minimize risk in your riding programs. Limited space, any

Riflery Training
June 3, 9am-12 noon, $25
Join Robb White from the Lebanon Division of Police as he takes you
through a complete training on how to use, maintain and operate a safe
riflery range. If possible, bring the rifles you will be using for your
program. If your rifles are unavailable, Camp Kern will be happy to let

Archery Training
June 4, 9am-4pm, 35
Instruction on how to deliver a safe and well run archery program for your
summer camp. Safety and care for the equipment will be the focus with
plenty of time using and getting acquainted with the bows. If you can
bring your equipment, please do, if not Camp Kern will have bows and

Lifeguarding Certification
June 1-3, $105 (Room and board is $45)
If you are in need of training for lifeguards then sign up now, space is
limited. Classes will be held at Camp Kern, room and board is available.
Training will be done by Gail Horton from Prebble Co. Y. You must be at
least 16 years old and you must attend 100% of the classes to become
certified. Call Trow at 513-932-3756 x26 for more information. This is
not an instructors course.

350 Oregonia, OH 45054. Please fill out completely so there is no
confusion. Payment can be by check or credit card. Credit card
transactions can be done over the phone, but you will still need to send
